This is basically start of my game Review series. Where I will rank many games i have played and experienced. Now I never wanted to play to play cry of fear because I never knew about it in the first place but my best friend kept Glazing this game. Like it's the most perfect horror game ever made. So I decided to play it but there was a catch. I didn't have a pc so I had to emulate this game on my android phone with Winlator. Which basically looked like this:
And it was an horrible experience interms of gameplay but I will get in that Later. So as usual I will rank the game on 3 basis which are Story, Graphics/Art style and Gameplay.
The Story of this game i will say is very vague but by the end it really hits or Hurts if you get the bad endings. Me myself got the good ending first time because I believe I got lucky. So the basic plotline of the game is this according to my understanding:
• Simon was depressed
• Got in a car accident
• Lost his ability to walk
• Simon got more Depressed
• Docter tells him to write a book about himself
• Proceeds to write a horror fan fic which is the game we play
• Starts having Psychosis of his own story?
• Proceeds to kill 2 officers accidentally
• becomes a better person?
• End
This is basically the tldr of the story and I will say the way the monsters were designed according to Simons Psychi is absolutely horrid. Like I don't remember any latest game where I have to kill "Kids" and women with blades as limbs whoes screech is so horrific when she dies. It shocked me for the first time. Another memorable section i remember from this game is where there was this big head in the middle of a room making weared noises and shaking violently. It stuck with me. Another scene that stuck with me a lot where there were a lot of people in hanging cages cutting there wrists. That's some horrid stuff.
I Remember reading somewhere that Sophie's death actually symbolised Simon's love dying for Sophie and I believe that makes most sense because in reality sophie is still alive but for Simon. Sophie is no more. The story of this game is absolutely beautifully crafted.
The Graphics & Art style Is very interesting. The graphics of this game obviously look dated as it's from i believe 2012 ? 2013 ? I don't know but the art style of this game like the story is beautifully crafted again. I have noticed that a lot of morden indie horror games try to replicate the art style of games like cry of fear because it truly upholds the horror theme i believe. The monster designs are Again masterfully crafted but I liked none Because they are all scary. They are good but I don't like any of them! And I believe as a horror game that's an achievement. As for the music of the game i will say it's very good. I like the menu theme but...there is one ost of this game that stuck with me. That feels like me...i cannot explain it...it calms me down...it makes me... exist in the moment...I am unable to describe it but...these ost...feels like....Me.
THE GAMEPLAY SUCKS OF THIS GAME! I hate it with a burning Passion! Its so bad! I played it on a phone and completed this GARBAGE PIECE OF SHIT IN TWO DAYS! It was the most infuriating and aganizing experience of my life! WHY IS THERE SO MUCH BACK TRACKING? WHY ARE THERE SO MANY F******* GUNS IN THE GAME AND THE BULLETS ARE RANDOM! i completed the game with a glock by the way. AIMING IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE! F*** IT GAVE ME ANGURISM! IT ACTUALLY TRAUMATISED ME!!!
So I will Cry of Fear over all is a beautiful crafted game EXCEPT THE GAMEPLAY and every one should ones in their life play this. It's absolutely free of cost which is very surprising even to me.
My Final Rating for this game is a 6/10.
